Pen Tool

Spot Healing Brush
The spot healing brush tool quickly removes imperfections in graphics by automatically replacing brushed parts of the graphic with the surrounding area. Learn more about the Retouching and Healing Tools or see our other Basic Photoshop Tutorials.
Brush Tool
The primary painting tool in Photoshop. Used to paint with the selected foreground color on layers of the canvas.

With the Clone Stamp Tool, you can select a source area of an image, and then paint over another area of the image using that source point as your paint.
Paint Bucket Tool
The Paint Bucket Tool is used to fill area or selections with a solid color.

The marquee tools are used to make rectangular, elliptical, horizontal and vertical line selections in Photoshop

Type Tools
In Photoshop, tools used to set type inside the working image area. When working in RGB mode, the type tools will create type in a new layer.
Layers

Red
The Color red is often associated with excitement, drama, and passion. Darker reds typically feel more compassionate.
Orange
An active, color filled with energy. Orange is typically associated with things such as happiness and creativity, and is not so corporate-esque.
Yellow
Probably considered to be the "Happiest" of the colors, and is used in emoticons and smiley faces. A very energetic color.
Green
The color green is typically associated with things such as the outdoors, freshness, and growth. Green can also be paired with black to create a more technical mix of colors.
Blue
The greatest color of all (not that we're biased or anything). Blue is often associated with intelligence, calmness, stability, and clarity. It ALSO sadness in some cases, but we don't talk about that.
Purple
In history, it's one of the colors to reproduce with dye, and was (still is) associated with things such as royalty as a result. Sometimes can be connected to nature, and richness.
White
White is the color of a typical blank canvas. It's clean, pure, and usually associated with light and perfection.
Black
Sometimes connected to concepts such as death and pain, but in many instances conveys elegance and power. Blacks a finicky color that often changes it's meaning with other colors paired with it.
Color Value
The darkness or lightness of a color is called value.
Tint
When white is added to a pure color to make it lighter, the resulting color is known as a tint.
Shade
When black is added to a pure color to make it darker, the resulting color is known as a shade.
Color Saturation
Color saturation refers to the intensity of a color. The more vibrant a color, the more saturated it is. Likewise, the more dull, the more desaturated.
Color Scheme
A concept for creating a series of colors that flow with one another in a pleasing manner. The six common schemes are: monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic, and double complementary.
