Welcome to the new and improved Tutorial9. We’re the same at heart, with our mission being to deliver you the best tutorials and resources for free, all the time — but we’ve updated our look a bit.
The New Look
It became quite apparent that our appearance was rather bland quite fast in recent months. Combined with difficulty navigating the site, restrictive subscription options, and an overall experience that just felt mediocre, we felt called to action to bring the Tutorial9 community to the next level.
And we think it worked.
The new Tutorial9 features a brand new tabbed navigation structure that makes browsing the site a breeze, searching the site more simple than ever, and offers a wide new variety of subscription options for advanced users. New post formatting makes the consumption of information and freebies much easier than before. And our new look just feels great. We’re a design site… shouldn’t we feel like one?
Get Paid to Write for Tutorial9
In this new iterration of Tutorial9, we’re rolling out a brand new guest posting feature. Now, we’ll pay you $150 to write a post to be published on Tutorial9. Whether you’ve had an idea on the backburner for a killer tutorial, a mind-blowing roundup, or are in the mood to put together that dreamy icon pack, we’ll pay you for it.

Belated congrats on the redesign! I clicked on the “Get Paid to Write” page and it took me to list of tutorials rather than a list of guidelines. Is there another page I should use to learn more about contributing to Tutorial9? Thanks!

Flag as inappropriateYup, also not seeing a logo. It looks like ‘images/banner.png’ is supposed to be the logo but it shows up as a 1×1 clear image. I’m on Windows Vista FF3.
But the rest of the site looks amazing. A great redesign.

Out of curiosity, what screen resolution are you using?

Flag as inappropriateI also noticed that for some reason the site never stops loading. In FF3, the loading indicator just keeps spinning the whole time.
Love the redesign mate, only thing seem missing to me was a home button in the main navigation.

Flag as inappropriateGreat job with the re-design – I love the clean crispness of the interface and amount of white space you are leaving. It’s an appealing design and very friendly-looking. I’d sort of like to see some of those nice side illustrations added to the footer to pull things together, but that’s just a quibble.

Flag as inappropriateAvira Antivir everytime cries “virus alert!!!1″ when I’m surfing your site… please fix that…
Flag as inappropriateVirus Alert? Could I suggest getting better Virus software? I’m 100% sure it has nothing to do with Tutorial9. Just searched around and found out that Avira will identify certain pieces of text like “admin is logged in” as possible indicators of a virus. In other words, it’s guessing Tutorial9 is a dangerous site based on the text here and for no other reason.

A few improvements I think would help:
*Removal of Ads in the actual post content. Nobody likes to have posts cluttered with unrelated stuff while following a tut.
*Renaming the ‘Photoshop Tutorials’ section to ‘Graphic Tutorials’ or something similar as I know there are a few other writers here as well as yourself who like to make the odd tutorial using other software.
*Make the size of the text in the comment entry field a little smaller so it’s easy for a commenter to review their post before submitting it.
Other than those small things, the whole site generally looks a lot cleaner and easier to navigate.
Also I think paying people to write useful posts is an awesome idea, will definitely get a good response with many varied styles. Just curious, do the tutorials have do be for Photoshop or can they be for other similar software such as Illustrator or Fireworks?
Overall, your hard work and effort into this site is definitely paying off. Maybe something special for 10000 subscribers? :P

Flag as inappropriateWhat happened to “Tutorial Bliss”!?! I liked that slogan better, I like the new design as far as the usability, but I don’t really like anything else. You went “too trendy”….what set tutorial 9 apart from the other sites is that it had a unique look but now you made look it into all the generic looking “trendy” sites/blogs. Background img, 2 columns….etc.
Sometimes innovation should be more of a priority than recreation.

I’ve already been waiting for this post to leave my comment. It’s a simply great design. I love almost everything. For me the most important improvement is the tabbed navigation.
Overall it looks very detailled, professional and very designish. But it’s still clean and simple.
The background reminds me of Barracks site ;).

If I may add one little improvement suggestions, it would be that the top navigation (above the RSS section) is imho a bit too small. maybe you could use the same font size as for the subscriber number. just my 2 cents.
