Text Effect Quickie: Moon Shine Text Effect
In just a few simple steps, you can add a calm, easy-going text effect — great for evening events and crisp banners.
What We’re Making
This Text Effect Quickie will show you how to easily create a soft glowing moon-like text.

Before getting started, you may want to download the font used:
Step 1 – Background
Since this text effect looks best on dark colored backgrounds, let’s create one. Using the color #0f1c25 and black, create a radial gradient from the center of your document.

Step 2 – Setting the Type
Let’s set some type in the document to use the effect on. Bolder and stronger fonts will work better!

Step 3 – Setting Up the Layer Style
Go into your text layers Blending Options (Right Click Layer > Blending Options).
Apply the layer effects shown below, making any modifications as needed.
Drop Shadow

Outer Glow
#afd3e2

Inner Glow
#93c1d4

Gradient Overlay
#afd3e2 to White

Flag as inappropriateAwesome tutorial. The effect is really awesome. It actually inspired me for my logo design and I got my designer from LogoDesignPlanet.com to design a logo incorporating elements found from your tut. It came out better than expected as I thought it would be difficult to look strong and corporate but it looked really polished. Even my friends who were skeptics at first were blown away by how the logo design turned out. I got to thank you for posting this tut as I did show to my designer for reference to how I want it to look like. Thanks heaps!

The sparkles can be added with a brush. Try this one here: http://www.photoshopbrushes.com/brushes/28.htm
Flag as inappropriateany luck with the .pdf file? ^_^
Flag as inappropriateLove this tutorial but how where the sparkles added? It is not shown in this tutorial. Thanks
Flag as inappropriate@Sean: Glad you found it.
Flag as inappropriate@Affordable Web Design: Anytime!
First of all… Thank you very much for the effort publishing such simple but powerfull tuts!
I made a wallpaper out of this one with a widescreen resolution which is 1920×1200. I dont know if such a high resolution causes the problem I am having but i am very interested in how to solve it: The problem is the gradient you use which cause banding which are in a very annoiing way visible. I tried to apply some noise but that doesnt help either. How do i solve this banding problem?
Flag as inappropriateNice tutorial!
Thanks for the share

Flag as inappropriate@rad_thundercat: Nice suggestions rad_thundercat :) Sorry, your first comment was held for moderation. It’s up now. Sometimes the comment system makes errors like that.
Flag as inappropriateI guess the comment didn’t post because I had a link.
Nice and subtle effect.
You can make those glares a little more realistic by doubling up the layers and setting one to screen, and the other to ‘color dodge’. Adjust the visibility by tweaking the levels of each layer, not the opacity.
Flag as inappropriateNice and subtle.
You can make those glares pop a bit more by doubling up the layers and setting one to screen, and the other to ‘color dodge’.
